A.Hak is connecting 12 existing homes in the municipality of Lochem to a hydrogen connection for client Liander. In the area, hydrogen will run through the existing natural gas network or parallel to it.
12 homes in Lochem connected to hydrogen gas
A portion of the homes in the municipality of Lochem is participating in this pilot project. The supply is transported by tank from across the Berkel River. This project is a good example of the collaboration between two business units; the drilling under the Berkel River was done by A.Hak Drillcon and the further construction by Infranet region East.

The drilling
During drilling under a river in the province of Gelderland, heavy soil conditions may be encountered. This was also the case with this drilling, in the breeding area of the riverbed. In this area, the drill head ended up on gravel layers, and the retraction of the drill strings caused delays. By carrying out extra milling and clearing work, this was resolved safely and without damage.
The supply of hydrogen is realized via three special tank trucks. At the entry point, there is room for two of the tank trucks. From here, the hydrogen is fed into the existing gas network and brought into the 12 connected homes. The homes are existing homes from the 1930s and had to be thoroughly insulated before they were eligible for a hydrogen connection.
