How the partners protect the environment was scored with an 8/10 (‘excellent’). 9 out of 10 points (‘exceptional’) were scored In the categories ‘Care about Appearance’, ‘Respect the Community’, ‘Secure everyone’s Safety’ and ‘Value their Workforce’.

The Considerate Constructors Scheme is a non-profit making, independent organisation founded in 1997 by the construction industry to improve its image. As their assessment of this project shows CSS were very pleased with the proceedings, as can be read in the following quotes from the Monitor’s Site Report.

Local community
‘Exceptional efforts have been made to engage with the local community with a consultation period, briefing meetings, attendance of JV staff at parish council meetings, progress update letters and details on the website. Contact has been made with local schools, college and university. Charities are supported, and a defibrillator was donated to a village.’

Safety and care of the workforce
‘Safety and care of the workforce is of paramount importance on this project with a safety management team based on site. Audits are carried out regularly. There are first aid facilities and first aiders positioned throughout the site, and three defibrillators. Specialist health and safety training is given, utilising VR systems. The facilities provided for all personnel are excellent and an all inclusive policy is evident. Overall the site was projected as an outstanding place to work.’
